May 15, 2018

Toronto – A new fellowship and scholarship has been launched by University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management to recognize and support MBA students with visible and invisible disabilities.

The Access to Success Fellowship for Rotman Full Time MBA students who identify as having a permanent disability or disabilities. The Fellowship will include a $5,000 scholarship along with exclusive leadership, mentorship, and recruiting opportunities to be awarded between up to three students, It will be awarded based on academic merit, contributions within and for accessibility spaces and communities, and lived experiences of overcoming obstacles to achieve success. Additional details will be available in the summer.

Access to Success is a national not-for-profit organization launched earlier this year at the Rotman school by four  MBA students, Varun Chandak, Mahe Davar, Nikitha Ramesh, and Natalie Eckler.  The organization empowers MBA students with disabilities to become successful business leaders by  cultivating networks, creating opportunities and building allies.

“We hope that the Fellowship will pave the way for recognizing the achievements of MBA students who have a disability. We are excited to get this conversation going at business schools across North America and are thrilled to have Rotman lead the way as the founding member of the organization,” says Varun Chandak, MBA’18.

This year the organization held its inaugural national conference and case competition on universal design, where Dean Tiff Macklem announced that the Rotman School joined Access to Success as a founding member.
