Toronto – Four faculty members at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management along with a PhD student have received honours recently for their achievements in research.
Three Rotman faculty members were honoured by the Society for Financial Studies at their annual conference which was held at the Rotman School in May.
A paper co-authored by Redouane Elkamhi, an assistant professor of finance, and Mike Simutin, an assistant professor of finance, was honoured as the best paper published in the Review of Asset Pricing Studies. “Managerial Activeness and Mutual Fund Performance” was published last year.
Pat Akey, an assistant professor of finance at the University of Toronto Mississauga, who is cross-appointed to the Rotman School, was awarded the 2016 Rising Scholar Award. It is in recognition of his paper “Valuing Changes in Political Networks” published in The Review of Financial Studies in 2015.
Muhammad Azim, a PhD student in accounting, has been awarded a Louis O. Kelso Fellowship for research in employee ownership. The fellowships are presented by the Rutgers University's School of Management and Labor Relations. Prof. Francesco Bova previously received the fellowship in 2011.
A paper co-authored by Heski Bar-Isaac, a professor of business economics, has been selected as a winning paper in the Emerald Citations of Excellence for 2016. “Ratings quality over the business cycle” was published in the Journal of Financial Economics in 2013. Each year Emerald, a publisher, honours highly cited papers relating to the areas of Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics and Marketing.
