Industry Experts Appointed as Executives in Residence at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.

Toronto – A veteran of the international wealth management industry and a design thinker have been appointed as Executives-in-Residence at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. The appointments are effective on January 1, 2017.

Michael Lagopoulos is the recently retired Deputy Chairman of RBC Wealth Management, where he was responsible for the coordination and servicing of leading Ultra High Net Wealth families and institutional clients around the world. He was also responsible for the Corporate Governance of the major RBC Wealth Management subsidiaries around the world as well as the acquisition and alliance activities of RBC Wealth Management internationally. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1979 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and became a Chartered Accountant in 1982. He has served clients and conducted business in more than 50 countries around the world. After more than 35 years in business, he now serves as a Director on five boards, serves as an advisor to three Family Offices and teaches a program in Wealth Management at U of T.

Alex Ryan is a Senior Energy Transition and Policy Innovation Advisor with Co-Lab and a co-founder of Synthetikos, a boutique strategy consulting firm specializing in Systemic Design. He also serves as a Senior Advisor with the Government of Alberta. He Co-Founded Alberta CoLab and advises a cross-ministry systemic design and strategic foresight team working to institutionalize systems thinking, design and foresight within government policy and planning processes. The CoLab team addresses diverse issues such as energy transition, integrated resource management, stakeholder engagement, and social innovation. He has previously taught operational and strategic design at the U.S. School of Advanced Military Studies, and helped to institutionalize design within Western militaries, working with clients such as U.S. Strategic Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, Australian Special Operations Command, and the Canadian Forces College. His dissertation in applied mathematics advanced a multidisciplinary approach to complex systems design.
