Rotman FinHub- Financial Innovation Hub in Advanced Analytics
Bringing together Fintech Practitioners, Students and Faculty
Rotman's FinHub provides an environment in which students, the financial industry, startup entrepreneurs, and faculty interact to develop the expertise that enables ongoing innovation in the financial sector. Our approach rests on three pillars: exposing and instructing students in cutting edge technological and finance innovations, developing new research insights research, and exchanging and incubating ideas in financial innovation.
Rotman faculty is engaged in cutting-edge research on financial innovation issues. The Rotman FinHub provides access to the latest databases and analytical tools through the Rotman Finance Lab.
Launched on November 21, 2017, the Rotman FinHub will host a series of events that bring together practitioners, faculty and students with an interest in financial innovation.
The Rotman FinHub works to prepare our students for a career in the financial services sector. Rotman offers a Masters level elective in FinTech. In the Fall of 2017, Rotman ran a limited enrollment mini-course on machine learning using Microsoft Azure. Rotman will be offering mini-courses on Python and on blockchain technologies in the near future.
The Rotman FinHub is calling for project sponsors from both established companies and start-ups working in the FinTech area. Each project will be assigned an integrated team of management and technology students consisting of four masters or undergraduate students -- Rotman, engineering and computer science students. Each team will have a faculty mentor. The first projects will commence in May 2018. Student teams will be available for the fall 2018 and spring 2019 terms.
